REPORT: Parel, 1957 — The canteen at a mill compound could account for its tea glasses but not for a ration docket needed before the supper bell. A cook, cashier, mill clerk and tea runner moved through the serving counter, pantry, tally desk and rear yard with a ladle, change tin, meal token and docket board. One signed statement requires a closer reading. The desk adds one line for the record: the false claim in the signed statements came from the very person this enquiry wants.
