The Dadar Ration Docket

A ration office docket was copied twice before the 1979 queue opened.

REPORT: Dadar, 1979 — A ration office found two copies of a docket prepared for one queue, and neither clerk could say which had gone to the counter. A supervisor, typist, runner and shopkeeper passed through the issue desk, records shelf, side corridor and stamp table with a token strip, carbon sheet, docket file and ink pad. The office register resolves the duplicate. The desk adds one line for the record: the Docket file is the item under enquiry, and its keeper that evening owes the desk the first answer.
