The Khar Repair Chit

A bicycle repair chit led to the wrong wheel in a 1979 workshop queue.

REPORT: Khar, 1979 — A repair chit sent a customer to the wrong wheel after a crowded workshop afternoon. The mechanic, clerk, messenger and owner each recorded a stop at the repair stand, parts shelf, office bench and wash bay with a tyre lever, spoke key, claim chit and grease rag. One account was deliberately misplaced. The desk adds one line for the record: the false claim in the signed statements came from the very person this enquiry wants.
